HIPRA Automates 700 Daily Vaccine Transfers with AMRs
Supporting pharmaceutical production with flexible automated material transport
As a global leader in animal vaccine development, HIPRA wanted to modernize internal logistics at its new facility in Spain while maintaining strict cleanroom standards. Each day, employees were moving 700 heavy vaccine boxes between production lines and the warehouse. This repetitive manual transport created a bottleneck, increased the risk of delays, and placed additional physical demands on staff.
To improve material flow, HIPRA partnered with OMRON to deploy a fleet of six LD-90 Autonomous Mobile Robots. The AMRs move through narrow corridors, open cleanroom doors automatically, and adjust to changing production schedules while operating safely alongside staff in ISO Class 5 cleanroom environments. The result is a reliable material handling automation system that helps keep vaccine production supplied while reducing dependence on manual transport.
Using OMRON FLOW Core fleet management software, the AMRs coordinate routes and assignments across the facility without requiring floor markers or major infrastructure changes. HIPRA replaced manual cart runs with automated deliveries between production and warehouse areas, helping ensure vaccine boxes are consistently transported and tracked throughout the process.
As production volumes change, the system provides the flexibility to adjust internal logistics while supporting the cleanroom requirements of pharmaceutical manufacturing.
